Crop & Create Fall 2022 – Honey Bee Stamps

I finally worked on this mini class (#5 in the event schedule) last weekend at my craft group – I heat embossed the images beforehand and did the stencil colouring at my group. The cards look so much prettier in real life than the project photos in the instructions looked. I wanted to try something different as well, so I used some Masking Magic to cover the stamped image before ink blending with Concord & 9th Aqua ink, then colouring with Altenew inks (I think I used Rubellite and Magenta for the flowers). Sadly some of the ink on the making paper bled onto the background, but I’ll just pretend that was intentional and adds to the shading towards the flowers 😉

Things I enjoyed:

  • Learning that changing the orientation of the stamp has a big impact on the overall design – I’d never think of splitting the stamp horizontally and stamping top and bottom edges.
  • I loved having stencils to colour those flowers and leaves and the etched markings on the stencils made it super easy to line up, especially as the stencils are transparent.
  • I loved the idea of creating your own coloured cardstock for the red sentiment – it’s a technique I’ve used before, but had forgotten all about it – it was a good reminder.
