Challenges, Craft Roulette

Craft Roulette episode 109 … again

It’s a woman’s prerogative to change her mind, right? I couldn’t get this card idea out of my head overnight, so I decided to try it out today, and I’ve decided to submit this one instead for this week’s Craft Roulette (one of the many benefits of being a Patreon supporter is late submissions) – as a reminder, the parameters were:

  • Project: Calendar I used calendar pages collaged into the background)
  • Colours: Yellow + 2 (I chose red and green – red is predominant but there’s yellow in the bees)
  • Element: Bees
  • Random: Plain circle(s) (I knew the sentiment I wanted to use, but couldn’t find anything similar in my stash, so I printed this off using Microsoft Word … I might have to do more of that in the future, it’s really handy!)

Supplies used:

  • Stamps:
Bee: Hey Honey stamp set by Pink & Main (exclusive for Crop & Create Delivered Mar 2022)
Flower and leaves: To a Wild Rose by Stampin’ Up! (retired)
  • Inks:
Inks by Gina K Designs: Red Hot, Cherry Red, Grass Green, Fresh Asparagus

Craft Roulette episode 109

My 45th entry for Craft Roulette – Mr Wheel chose the following parameters to be incorporated into a card:

  • Project: Calendar (I went very literal with this one)
  • Colours: Yellow + 2 (I chose blue and green – well I kinda had to choose blue because I’d already added it to the bee wings!)
  • Element: Bees
  • Random: Plain circle(s) (I added enamel dots to the flowers for my circles)

I’ll be honest I’m not sure about adding the sentiments – it was an afterthought after everything was stuck down, but I have a bee-loving friend who loves it, and it’ll be going to a new home shortly and will be enjoyed. The images show before and after.

Supplies used:

  • Stamps:
Bees and flowers: Hey Honey stamp set (and honeycomb stencil) by Pink & Main (exclusive for Crop & Create Delivered Mar 2022)
Sentiments: Beautiful Bees by Gina K Designs
  • Inks:
Honeycomb background and cardstock swinking: Slippery When Wet by Simon Hurley

  • Project: Drop down (I chose raindrops dropping down from the sky)
  • Colours: Spring
  • Element: Cloud(s) (on the grey stamped background layer)
  • Random: Stamped background (the grey background layer)

My aim this year was to learn to do paper piecing – and I’ve come to realise now just how easy and fun it is to do, so I see more in my future for sure!

Craft Roulette episode 107

This last week was my 43rd entry for Craft Roulette – the first one was back on 24 May 2021. It’s also the first challenge I tried as a cardmaker, and each week I do it I continue to be stretched and I get to use stamps and techniques unused previously. It’s so much FUNN (spelling intended).

This week Mr Wheel chose the following parameters to be incorporated into a card:

  • Project: Picture frame card – I chose a picture frame as an element within the card
  • Colours: #team – as is clearly shown on this blog, I’m definitely on team blue/aqua!
  • Element: Communication – I chose a sentiment as my communication item
  • Random: Lace or doily – although it’s hard to see, I used lace printed paper for the curtains and a die cut doily for the mat, although that’s mostly covered up

Supplies used:

  • Stamps:
Critters and furnishings: Window Additions (with coordinating dies) by Gina K Designs
Background: Petite Flourish by Gina K Designs
Sentiment: Fancy Phrases by Stampin’ Up! (retired)
  • Dies:
Windows: Neighbourhood House by Scrappy Tails
Doily rug: Encircled in Beauty by Stampin’ Up! (retiring May 2022)
