Christmas ornaments in blue

This ornament makes my blue-loving heart sing! I created this one for a couple of challenges – each challenge inspired me in different ways, and this was the result. I’m entering it into these challenges this week:

It’s also Day 7 of my personal ‘card-a-day challenge’ throughout November that I’m doing along with my friend Melissa at Mel’s Card Corner.

Supplies used:

  • Snowflakes cover plate die by Pinkfresh Studio
  • Ornament heat embossed using Holiday Tapestry stamp set by Gina K Designs
  • Ornament toppers die by Gina K Designs
  • Joyful Christmas sentiments Glimmer hot foil plate and die set by Simon Hurley and Spellbinders

More Pinkfresh Create and Connect

I managed two more cards from last May’s virtual event – a blue variation of one of yesterday’s cards, plus one of the make and takes. I think I’ll go back to do two more of the make and takes before tackling the next class. It’ll be nice to finally get this stash off the floor and filed away! I

must say I’m not a slimline fan, but I do love the mini slimline make and take card!

Pinkfresh Create and Connect May 2022

I never finished the Create and Connect virtual event with Pinkfresh held in May 2022. I started off really gung-ho for the first two sessions, then got pretty frustrated with the third class as the video quality was woeful and difficult to follow, and truthfully I ended up losing all momentum and mojo for it.

Eighteen months later and I’m trying to clear up my backlog of old classes so I can start putting supplies away … and last night I finally managed to get through the video and complete my cards for class number 3. I think getting this event’s backlog of classes finished will actually be a huge weight off my shoulders.

Here are the two cards I finished last night. I used a congrats sentiment we received as part of the kit on the pink card, as that’s going to be given to a work colleague tomorrow.

I don’t think I ever shared the first two classes of cards that I created earlier from that event, so I’ve included them below. In the first class I followed the colour schemes from the class projects, but then did an aqua background version with my own brighter colours.

For the second class I kinda followed the colours for the slimline card using whatever inks I thought were close, then went totally rogue with the A2 card using aquas and purples – I really love that second card.

Sassy pink roses

Oh boy this Garden Roses stencil and stamp combo by Pinkfresh Studio is an absolute stunner! It seems a shame to whack a sassy sentiment on top, but it was a special request by a friend so it had to be done … I’m not a pink lover whatsoever, but I have to say I really love the colours of this one, and so happy with how it turned out.

I’ve decided to enter this one into the Cards 4 Galz challenge this week which is to use a stencil – in this case it turned out to be two different types of stencil.

Supplies used:

  • Garden Roses stamp, stencil and coordinating die by Pinkfresh Studio
  • Inks by Altenew – Pink Diamond, Pinkalicious, Purple Wine, Frayed Leaf and Forest Glades
  • Highlander stencil by Heffy Doodle
  • Sentiment from Sassy Pants Birthday Greetings by My Favorite Things
  • Classic rhinestone basic jewels by Stampin’ Up!

I used the Poinsettia washi by Pinkfresh Studios for this card, which meets the first column of the Tic Tac Toe challenge this week. It’s also perfect for the Can you handle the Pressure? challenge of embossing folders with a twist of wreaths.

  • Poinsettia washi by Pinkfresh Studios
  • Perfect sentiments Holiday hot foil plate by Pinkfresh Studios
  • Gold foil by Couture Creations
  • Holiday flora embossing folder by Gina K Designs

Day 31 of CardMaynia

My colour choices for one of the classes at Create and Connect by Pinkfresh Studio. This uses the Whimsical Blooms set, exclusive to the event. And that is the last day of my CardMaynia challenge completed – a new card every day in May! What a great card to finish with!

I’m also entering this card into the Just Us Girls challenge #634 for this week, the TGIF Challenge #370, and The Paper Players tic-tac-toe challenge PP593 (centre column using embossing, floral, and rhinestones, pearls or dots).

Crop & Create Delivered – Pinkfresh Studio

The third Sunday class was with Laura Bassen and Pinkfresh Studio – I was really looking forward to this class, as I’d totally fallen in love with the blue card we’d seen in the sneak peeks (I may or may not have since ordered more blue inks since the class). I wasn’t disappointed, these are stunners, and it was really fun seeing how one set of stencils can be used in multiple ways. This was the first time I’d used Pinkfresh products, and another one that’s now on my wishlist for more items in the future.

Some things I loved about this class:

  • The beautiful stamp set is gorgeous on its own but using stencils to colour the images is awesome fun.
  • I love the font style and versatile sentiments in the stencils along with the coordinating dies.
  • I really love he soft pastel look of the projects which is totally different to my usual style – and I ADORE the monochrome blue version, what a stunner!

The inks I used for each card:

  1. Hello card
Altenew – Rose Quartz, Sea Breeze
Gina K Designs – Sweet Mango, Lemon Drop, Sea Glass (shading on the sentiment)
    Concord & 9th – Sprout
  2. Thinking of you card
    Altenew – Sea Breeze
    Simon Hurley – Clear Skies
Tim Holtz – Prize Ribbon distress
  3. Thank you card
Gina K Designs – Sweet Mango, Lemon Drop, Tranquil Teal
    Stampin’ Up! – Pale Papaya
Simon Hurley – Slippery When Wet
