Imaginary Jungle

This was my first attempt at using the Imaginary Jungle embossing folder and stencils by Altenew. I used Concord & 9th Aqua ink on the embossing folder to create the background – it was super juicy and bled a little into the flowers and leaves, but I still used it and it worked out OK I think. Is it perfect? No. But is it still beautiful? It makes me happy to look at it, so in my eyes the answer is yes 🙂 I have two more panels that have the backgrounds coloured ready to try again … the hardest part is deciding which colours to use!

I’m using this card for the Double D anything goes challenge which is a collaboration with Altenew – what better way to join in, than to use Altenew stencils for the card?!

A personal advent challenge

Today is day 1 of using ‘virgin’ stamps and dies from my stash … my personal version of an advent calendar/challenge.

This used a poinsettia stamp and stencil set by Taylored Expressions and a sentiment from the Joyful Season stamp set, also from TE. I accidentally had a stencil bleed from being heavy handed so I slapped on the vellum strip to hide my sins 😉

I’m entering this for the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown stencil challenge as well as the Stencil Fun challenge.

Sassy pink roses

Oh boy this Garden Roses stencil and stamp combo by Pinkfresh Studio is an absolute stunner! It seems a shame to whack a sassy sentiment on top, but it was a special request by a friend so it had to be done … I’m not a pink lover whatsoever, but I have to say I really love the colours of this one, and so happy with how it turned out.

I’ve decided to enter this one into the Cards 4 Galz challenge this week which is to use a stencil – in this case it turned out to be two different types of stencil.

Supplies used:

  • Garden Roses stamp, stencil and coordinating die by Pinkfresh Studio
  • Inks by Altenew – Pink Diamond, Pinkalicious, Purple Wine, Frayed Leaf and Forest Glades
  • Highlander stencil by Heffy Doodle
  • Sentiment from Sassy Pants Birthday Greetings by My Favorite Things
  • Classic rhinestone basic jewels by Stampin’ Up!
Challenges, Craft Roulette

A little hello stencil window card

I’m pretty sure this was the very first set of layering stencils that I ever owned when I started cardmaking 18 months ago, and it began a love affair with stencils (even though I often forget to use them!). I actually created this card for the Craft Roulette challenge this week, but it’s also something that was inspired by the photo inspiration challenge over at Inspiration Station, and the aperture card challenge over at The Sisterhood of Crafters so it was a three-fer this week!

The Craft Roulette challenge this week was for:

  • Project: Window card (the second one I’ve ever attempted I think)
  • Colours: Red, yellow +1 (I chose green)
  • Element: November (it’s the end of Spring in Australia, so I went with flowers for my card)
  • Random: Use three circles (although there are a few circles on the card, I chose the three red flower centres which were black/grey enamel dots)

Supplies used:

  • A Little Hello stencil bundle by Gina K Designs
  • Ink pads by Gina K Designs: Sweet corn, Wild dandelion, Prickly pear, Chocolate truffle, Red velvet, Jelly bean green, and Fresh asparagus
  • Enamel dots are old Stampin’ Up! retired halloween ones
  • Happy birthday pre-printed sentiment from my stash (I can’t remember the brand)

CardMaynia finished … now day 1 of 100 days project

This card was created to honour Gina K Designs for all that Gina, Tom and the team do for us crafters every week. Customer service is second to none, and I continue to learn from the selfless sharing of knowledge every single week, not to mention their sense of humour and compassion. All products today are by Gina K Designs. Using Mega Flower stencil, still using up ink left on my brushes (unbelievable), butterflies from Warm Spring Wishes, sentiment from Let’s Celebrate, and Midnight sequins on the butterfly bodies.

And that’s also day 1 of #100daysproject2022 for me. I decided I had too much fun with CardMaynia so I signed up to continue going! Here’s the month of May all completed!

Golden Days by Altenew

I honestly think this is one of the most beautiful flower stencil results I have ever seen – the Golden Days layering stencils by Altenew are just exquisite!! I find the layering pretty easy to do and it always receives great feedback from friends. I’ve even just ordered the hot foil plate for this, even though I don’t have the foiling machine yet, I love it that much haha. I have a machine on order locally, but who knows when it’ll be back in stock, so in the meantime I’m sticking with the stencils on their own – and I actually don’t think the foiling is essential, it’s beautiful on its own.

Inks that were used:

  • Pink card: Gina K Designs: Innocent Pink, Dusty Rose, Bubblegum and Passionate Pink
  • Yellow card: Gina K Designs: Lemon Drop, Wild Dandelion, Prickly Pear and Honeyed Mustard … I think (unfortunately the images have disappeared from my phone)
  • Purple card: Altenew Soft Lilac, Lavender Fields, Deep Iris and Midnight Violet

Two more backgrounds are ready to go to a friend as art to be framed, which is so sweet.

The inks used in the above card are Altenew Rose Quartz, Puffy Heart, Purple Wine and Cosmic Berry.

The inks used in this one are in the photo, which was a blend of Gina K Designs Innocent Pink and Passionate Pink, and Altenew Rose Quartz and Puffy Heart.
